IntellTech Intelligent Technologies is a Brazilian solutions provider focused on Global Mining, Environment, Hydropower, and Infrastructure sectors for integrated, analytical and intelligent monitoring. Its main objective, for which it was created in January 2016, is to centralize, contextualize, standardize, and provide, through interdependent functional and/or analytical modules, more accurate information in quasi-real time, as well as in past and future time, to improve and ease decision making.
Having been established for eight years, the Brazilian multinational serves major players in the mineral, electricity, and infrastructure sectors. Its data integration platform is customized and proposes to integrate different types of data, from different sources and technologies. Advanced data processing and analysis techniques are applied, supported by predictive methods and AI, and machine learning techniques to provide relevant information for decision making.
On the other hand, the growing digitalization of services and advances in technology and infrastructure have placed Brazil as one of the main targets of cyberattacks in the world, facing a high frequency of cybersecurity incidents that affect both public and private organizations, compromising sensitive data and national security.
In this context and given the importance of its performance in the market, IntellTech identified the need to implement a robust Information Security structure, including the structuring of its own Information Security department, with a dedicated team and the implementation of a security culture and replication of good practices to all employees. BluerTech was hired to initiate and conduct the Information Security operation at IntellTech. The implementation of the area also actively involved senior management in establishing policies, rules, and standards that would come into force since then.
With BluerTech, IntellTech has successfully implemented the following practices, processes, and compliance:
- Implementation of a SIEM for continuous monitoring of IntellTech’s assets and endpoints.
- Monitoring of endpoints in a dedicated SOC.
- Review of infrastructure and network security.
- Conducting annual internal and external penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
- Conducting vulnerability assessment in Web applications.
- Conducting social engineering campaigns (phishing email).
- Training and awareness of employees in information security.
- ISO 27001 preparation and certification.
- ISO 27701 preparation and certification.
- Preparation and provision of SOC 2 Type II report.
- Review and adaptation to the LGPD (Brazilian privacy law).
- Review of policies and procedures in a PDCA cycle of continuous improvement.
With the implementation of information security policies and the introduction of risk management processes, IntellTech has benefited from the establishment of a governance culture centered on operational efficiency, associated with the mitigation of risks across all areas, and decision-making based on ethics, values, and moral, consequently increasing the company’s trust and reputation in the market, among clients, business partners, and investors.
Furthermore, the implementation of controls to prevent security incidents at IntellTech, such as data breaches or ransomware attacks, can save millions in costs related to mitigation, fines, legal actions, and loss of reputation.
In addition, regulatory compliance is a crucial aspect of IntellTech’s good image. The certifications obtained demonstrate that the company follows an international standard of information security and privacy management, which is a legal or regulatory requirement in various sectors, for instance, GDPR in Europe or LGPD in Brazil. Companies such as IntellTech, which have recognized security certifications and robust practices, can contrast themselves from the competition by offering additional value to their clients. Moreover, some markets and contracts may require specific certifications as a prerequisite, which opens new business opportunities.
